Managing Anger Constructively (MAC)

"Anyone can become angry --- this is easy. But to be angry with the right person, to the right degree, at the right time, for the right purpose, and in the right way --- this is not easy."   Aristotle

Managing Anger Constructively (MAC) is designed for persons experiencing negative consequences in their lives when attempting to cope with the powerful emotion of anger. Anger lasts approximately 3 seconds. What you decide to do during those Critical 3 Seconds can have long lasting effects on relationships, employment, finances and emotional well-being. The goal is not to suppress anger, but to express it in non-aggressive ways. Managing Anger Constructively focuses on learning to take ownership of thoughts and feelings so positive choices can be made regardless of what situation is presented.

MAC is a cognitive re-structuring program. The cognitive behavior theory is based on the assumption that most emotional and behavioral reactions are learned. Therefore, the goal of MAC programming is to help the participant unlearn their unwanted actions and to re-learn a new way of responding. MAC seamlessly flows into the four follow-up sessions of  Breaking the Cycle -2. The BTC-2 segment integrates a strong emphasis on self-reflection, self-application and accountability to assure that the participant not only understands the information, but actively applies concepts to their personal situation.

Changing Perceptions and Learned Behaviors is a process, not an event.

Mac is offered as a 6-hour, 14-hour or 18-hour program. Individual sessions are also available.

Participants are challenged to explore topics, such as:

      • Immediate Pay-Offs from Anger
      • The Niagara Falls Metaphor
